I’m tackling a mini decorating project in Lily’s room since there’s not much going on in there. So far I have the vintage storybook art hanging up, I made this project last week, and that’s it! Her lamp was lacking a little something, so I decided to dress it up.
As quickly as I spotted this Martha Stewart lamp at Goodwill, I was snatching it up. It was $2.99, although it still had a sticker on it for $29.99!
The shade seemed freakishly big for the lamp and sure enough, it looked way better when I added this PB shade. I got it for $2 at the “Pottery Barn house” garage sale I mentioned in this post.
I’ve been dying to make ruffles for a while now and I knew they were perfect for this whimsical lamp. I sewed some ruffles using some green ribbon and a fun zig-zag stitch and attached it to the lamp with hot glue.
As I was cleaning the lamp to take pictures for the post, I noticed some scratches and decided to distress the lamp a little bit. It has a lot of great lines and detail and I love how the distressing brings those out. It’s hard to improve on Martha, but I think I did just that. ;)
and here’s the finished product both off and on!
Do you like?
and here’s the lamp in Lily’s room on her antique dresser:
I had so much fun making the ruffles! Now that I finally know how, I feel like I want to put ruffles on everything… lol! Hmmm, what can I make next with ruffles?
$2 for the garage sale/PB shade, about a dollar’s worth of ribbon, and some distressing take this lamp from a boring before to an adorable after!
Are you totally in love with ruffles like I now am? Have you done any projects you’ve done lately that use ruffles? Please link them up in the comments, I’d love some ideas!
