With these magnets I hope to spark imaginative play & throw in a little educational benefit when possible. I hope that the little people in your life like them as much as mine do!”

It was cold and rainy, but I’m happy that we had the crowd we did! Overall, it went well. Some things didn’t sell I thought would go right away, and we still had to bring a large load to Goodwill.

I didn’t make as much as other years (by a lot), but:

1.) I didn’t buy as much as last year, so I didn’t have as much to sell. That’s more money I SAVED!

2.) I didn’t have to haul as much to Goodwill, or back to my house (a half a van load, last year was two FULL van loads)

3.) 3 big pieces of furniture sold. That’s a ton of room I gained!

4.) I’m almost DONE organizing and clearing out around here.

4.) That stuff is no longer in my house.

5.) I couldn’t be happier!!!!!!!

6.) …I made money!

Here’s the trip I made to Goodwill for Bonnie and I:

image

Five bags of my stuff right there. About 10 other things that didn’t fit in a bag. That is AWESOME!

Minus sitting in the freezing cold rain, I’d say this year’s garage sale was a HUGE success!

…aaaaand the winner of the big fork and spoon giveaway, is

#4 – Brianne Dostaler!

Enjoy the big fork and spoon! ;)

Garage Sale Giveaway, Basement Progress

Keep scrolling if you could care less about me cleaning and want to get to the giveaway…

image

In preparation for our garage sale next weekend, I’ve been working on the basement.

I totally made this pic smaller, because normal size looks like I belong on the show Hoarders. I don’t think I’m that bad.

image

I went through the area in front of the shelving and the small pile to the left is what I’m keeping. I still have to go through the shelves and the pile closer to the camera.

Clearing out is the easy part, but keeping the kids busy is not so easy: Ben is crawling and Lily is using chairs to get into everything.

I keep a blanket and basket of toys in the basement in case we have bad weather and set it all up for them.(Ones with lots of pieces that annoy the crap out of me when they’re on the first floor, lol)

image

While they were playing, I snuck and assembled Easter Baskets. ;)

image

I moved a lot to the garage already, but here’s the pile I made today.

image

I’ve been wanting to have a giveaway with some things I don’t need, but that you might like. Here are the goods again!

image

A bundle of blossoms that give just the perfect punch of color.

Yours for the low low price of free 99!

image

Who needs dried up moss from Joann’s when you can get the real thing from my yard? A whole bag of it, all yours.

image

An old rusty, chippy, dirty REAL LIFE horseshoe from my garage!

image

And like I mentioned here, an antique big fork and spoon. I bought these for $2 at some old dude’s garage sale.

I can’t stop myself from doing a big plate arrangement with these on either end, so I’m giving them to you…

imageDoes anyone else think Everybody Loves Raymond when they see these?

How to enter (I’ll make it simple this time)

Embarrassing Bathroom – Week 3 Link-Up

for most posts on the 40 bags in 40 days challenge, click here

My bathroom is UGLY and unless I do some hardcore renovation, there’s nothing I can do to change it.

image (I still have not found the screws for the light in the hall, lol!)

The original owners stamped into the plaster walls to give the look of tile. I don’t know how it looked, but I’m guessing ugly since the previous owner sanded it all down to the bare bones.

image

It’s ready for me to update it, but we don’t quite have the funds. Needless to say, I’m super embarrassed of my bathroom and almost didn’t post these pics.

image

Oh wait, we have added an outlet. They didn’t need them in 1937!

image

We have these awesome ceramic lights original to the house, but their design makes it tough to look at. Literally. You cannot fit a shade on these bad boys, they’re migraine inducing!

imageimage

I’m not looking forward to showing you my “40 days” progress on the room, because although it’s organized, you don’t see that. You see peeling paint.

 image

I cleaned out the overflowing stack of magazines, left a few and organized some of Lily’s books. But I’m focusing on the gross walls and tile. image

The empty bottles are gone and the area is cleaned up, but I’m thinking of the shower head that could be replaced.

imageHair accessories and brushes went into this organizer from Target that I had on hand. They’re in my gross, wood vanity. …see the theme? ;)

image

We do have this hidden gem, my favorite part of the bathroom.

imageimageimage

After cleaning out this gross bathroom, I had half a bag! Some toiletries were donated to freecycle, others went in the garbage.

Also this week,

I organized ALL of the toys (!!!!), but that’s a post on its own.

crazyroom-b-a

Sorted through ALL of our kids’ books and got rid of those that were damaged, organized the bottom of my entertainment center,

image

and along with some help from Doug, cleaned out the van. After finishing this post, I’m going to hop off and clean my foyer.

Yikes… not looking forward to it, but it has to be done!

Advice for the week?

Embarrassed of a room in your house? Don’t let it get to you. I’ve talked to family members who think I’m nuts when I mention my disgust for the bathroom. They don’t live here, they don’t notice it. Keeping it organized will make you feel better about the room!

Edited to add: Wow! I opened Sarah’s blog while waiting for my post to load and saw this new post. Such great advice, I enjoyed it, I think you will too.

——————————————————————-

Now it’s your turn, link up any posts you have on the 40 BAGS in 40 DAYS, or clearing out.

If you’re already cleaning for another party, that’s fine! I just ask that you add my hot stuff button or at least link back in your post ;)
