My friend Amber, over at {ae filkins} is hosting a party called Friend Makin Mondays and I’m excited to participate and meet some new bloggy friends!
1. Favorite things about Spring:
The bright colors, spring dresses, start of garage sale season, going for walks, having it still light out at 6:30 pm, getting to dig into the backyard (gearing up for my first garden –woo hoo!), and the best of all – NO WINTER COATS!!!!
2. What I’m doing for Spring Break:
No real plans, but my daughter’s first birthday is the Saturday before Easter! We’ll be celebrating as a family, then holding a larger family party later on in the month! Happy (early) Birthday, Lily doll! :)
3. Favorite Spring flower:
Oh gosh, where do I even BEGIN?!? I used to work at a florist so I’m in love with flowers period. But spring flowers? Sigh. If I have to choose one, I’d pick hyacinths since their color is so vivid and they smell sooo amazing.
Then I’d pick tulips, bright yellow daffodils, forsythia, peonies, and magnolias! Blooming Magnolia trees are the best!
4. Do you have a garden?
Right now, all I have is an indoor herb garden. This is our first year in our house, so this spring I am planning on planting a HUGE vegetable/fruit garden! Maybe my vision is a bit lofty, especially since I’ll have my hands full with a 1 yr old and a newborn arriving in June, but hey, I can dream! Our yard also needs some landscaping lovin’ so we’ll be planting lots of flowers, shrubs, and bushes throughout the yard.
5. If so, what do you grow.
In my herb garden – cilantro, basil, oregano, dill, and chives. We have some apple trees already. In my BIG future garden, I’d love to have tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, herbs, maybe some fruits, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, corn, kale, salad mix veggies, I could keep going on forever… okay so MAYBE my ideas are a bit out there, haha!
6. Do you do Spring cleaning?
For the most part, yes. We moved into our home in October, so there’s a lot of organizing and finding a place for stuff. Since I’m due in June, I’ve been nesting BIG time and trying to get a lot of cleaning done. I’ve also been pretty good lately about clearing out the things we just don’t need to hang onto. I wouldn’t call it spring cleaning necessarily, but maybe spring overhaul or spring get-all-the-projects-done?
7. What is your weather *really* like right now? {Just b/c it’s "officially" spring, doesn’t mean that it feels like it for some of you}
Here in the Chicago/suburbs area, we’re likely to experience all of the seasons in a few days, haha! Last week was in the 60s, then on Saturday morning we woke up to 40 degree temps and SNOW! Ahhh! It’s warmed up a bit since last Saturday so the little snow we had melted and today it’s sunny and in the upper 40s.
8. Snapped any weather related photos lately? Share one with us!
I took some pictures throughout my yard last week since the snow was all gone, here’s two that I really liked.
9. What’s your favorite thing to do on a sunny afternoon?
Go for a walk, play outside with my daughter, just enjoy the day that God has given us! When it gets warmer – get a TAN, haha!
10. Favorite TV show right now?
American Idol – I like Lee and Crystal! Celebrity Apprentice is fun since our former governor is on and it’s fun to see what other people think of him and how he presents himself… crazy guy.
Loved all your photos. Good luck with your garden and your upcoming birth! It sounds like you have a lot of energy. Happy Monday to you!
