My Projects

Some things I’m hoping to get finished before the spring comes (and I’m still stuck inside):

-Filing our taxes as SOON as we get Doug’s W2!

-Getting my house ORGANIZED and going through boxes! I know it’s only been 4 months, most of the boxes are organized in the attic, but it bugs me still having boxes around. Remember the boxes in our bedroom from this post? Yup, still there. Can’t stand it.

-Sorting through clothes (again). I did this right before we moved and donated a TON. I still feel like I have too much. I need to sort Lily’s too – small clothes and decide what I want to keep, what is neutral, etc. Then I also need to sort her too – big clothes and put them in bins.

-Getting my walls decorated and painting countless frames black and bronze. Thanks to my friends Jen and Gillian for pointing out that 3M makes velcro strips for hanging! Woo hoo!

-Do some painting! Next on my paint-it-black list are the following:

IMG_0276 This Blue-Gray Corner Cabinet – Garage Sale – $15

I promise we’re not alcoholics. I was a bartender at the time and I thought that we’d have all these fun parties and make tons of fun drinks. And then we got pregnant with Lily!

IMG_0278 This Table – Doug got it at a garage sale

Although I’m kinda putting that off for after garage sale season starts, maybe we’ll find a new table that seats more than 4!

Lily’s High Chair – Garage sale, less than $10

-While on the subject of Lily’s high chair, I’d like to make her a high chair cushion! Just bought the supplies yesterday.  I love the high chair, it’s very sturdy, but tiny Lily slips forward, leaving her holding tight onto the tray. The buckle isn’t the best, so I’d like to add one onto the new cushion. I chose a canvas material, which doesn’t stain easily and repels water. I also found (and how cool is this) Bamboo/Cotton batting! It’s naturally antibacterial (which is a plus for a high chair cushion), and made with a 50-50 organic bamboo/organic cotton blend. The fabric on the left will be the cushion, while the fabric on the right will be the piping for the edges and the ties. Excited!

-Installing a railing and controlling my problem foyer area. I’d like to find a hanging chandelier to swag and install over these two doors (been searching freecycle, Goodwill, thrift shops since OCT!). We need to find and put in a railing before Lily walks. And I need to do something about all this clutter. This area is really a catch all, I think I need some baskets… Also, I’d like to figure out some wall hangings/pictures to make this space less blah. Trim would be nice too. All in good time…
