We moved into this home, our white house with black shutters, in October 2014.
We lived in our 73 year old home for 5 years; over that time we DIYed, renovated, and updated the whole thing. But with 1200 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and seven people, it was time for us to say goodbye. Click here to see pretty pictures and a house tour from our old house.
Our “new house” was built in the mid-80s, is spacious yet cozy, and like our old house needs some work! We’ve accomplished a lot in our two years here yet we still have a ways to go.
When we bought the house it had gray siding and no shutters. Due to hail damage, we replaced the 30 year old aluminum siding. The shutters were found secondhand and painted black. I painted the door teal. :)
When you walk in, there is a large staircase.
Our office is to your right: Colorful Office Tour
Our family room is to the left. I haven’t posted this room yet, here is a peek! Here are the before pictures and layout of the room.
Just beyond the family room is our dining room turned family space, where the kids do homework and play games.
When you walk through the room you’ll head towards the laundry room. We moved a wall and rearranged existing cabinets to create more space in here, as well as added DIY mudroom storage.
Just outside of the laundry room is a large eat-in kitchen, it even has a fireplace shared with the family room! More before pictures of the kitchen here.
Our bedrooms, bathrooms, and basement are still a work in progress. Here are some before pictures:
Our backyard and front landscaping is in the midst of an overhaul. We cut down 11 trees to solve drainage/flooding/pest issues, planted 6 new trees, took out landscaping, and are starting fresh. We also had a pretty successful garden! More pictures to come.
Here are some pictures of our backyard gathering space, the furniture was a yard sale find!
Thanks for taking a house tour with us!
After two years, I finally am starting to feel as if we’re settled and have made the home our own. I’m excited to share more projects with you as we finish them! Or in my case, keep it clean enough to grab pictures of the space. :)
