Wine Crate Shoe Storage

Do you ever find something while thrifting or garage sale-ing, you have no idea what you’re going to use it for, but you just have to get it? That kinda goes against my rule: if you want to cut down on the stuff, don’t buy stuff you don’t need.

But another rule I have is to buy only the stuff you love. And sometimes if something is that good, you don’t want to wait, and then kick yourself (over, and over, and over again…) because you didn’t get an idea on the spot.

That was the case with these crates. I bought them right before I drove off, after I had already paid for my purchases, loaded my stuff, Lily in the car. I had been eyeing them the whole sale. The people probably thought I was a creeper, because I was there so long just walking around.

But I was walking around and thinking, “what could I do with those? Where could I put them?”

As you can tell, I ended up buying them. These old wine crates were $5 each and I have three of them. And I found them for $535 online – score! The other one is in the basement, but I have plans for it. Some times you just have to go against your rules if something feels good!

What is your favorite thrifting find of all time? (this one’s up there for me)

What have you found that you loved, didn’t have a use for, but bought anyway?

Was it a success or did it end up collecting dust?

  3. What a great idea! I love it when things can be re- purposed and they add to the look of a room rather than making it look dumpy. Makes me want to go to some rummage sales and see what I can find. Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. Hey AM, would you be able draw up a floor plan of your house for future posts? I’m very intrigued by the lay out of your house because I think our layouts might be similar. We’re interested in expanding, so maybe it would give us an idea or two. Thanks!
