    Garage Sale of the Year

    May 9, 2011 |

This past Thursday was (and will be) the best neighborhood-wide sale of the year. I always went every.single.weekend, but after my 40 days adventure, I have two or three more in mind for the rest of the season. After this weekend, I’d be happy if this ended up being the only one I went to.

This was my pile from The Pottery Barn House, (lol wouldn’t she die if she knew that’s what we called her house?) as you can see, I was good this year!

8x10 Crate and Barrel sisal rug - $20, 2 gorgeous neutral wool rugs for $8 each, organizers, sheets, baskets, kitchen goodies, and shirts for Doug. I was pretty happy with myself, the only decor-ish item was the watering can.

I bought two of these 3-arm brass chandeliers, $7 for BOTH!

I’m still working on selling my bed (it’s down to $200, comment if you’re interested),  I’m still trying to figure out what colors to use in the room (leaning towards white, navy, touch of yellow and/or coral).

I found this lightweight comforter as well as some fabric remnants of blue and white ticking. We shall see how I like it, if not they were $3 altogether!

Free wood for a project involving movie quotes, farms, and decor…

Old rulers for another project, .10 a piece.

    image

Two large, old wooden drawers for under the bed storage! $5 each(these I am stoked about… they’re so big I could fit in there)

I was praying that I’d find dress shoes for Doug, we must have bought them all around the same time when he started his job because all of them are suddenly shabby.

We found a house with 11 pairs in his size, bought 3 of them for $3 a pair. Whew!

I also got enough clothes for each kid for the summer, most of what they’ll need for the winter, golf shirts, some clothes for me, books, some more decor crap, and a few toys.

My biggest miss of the day? I bought (and paid for) four, white distressed wooden Adirondack chairs, $20 for all! I went to pick them up and the lady sold them to someone else!!!!!!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sigh.

I’m working on letting it go. Everything happens for a reason?

Did you hit up any good garage sales this weekend?
Any finds I’d be jealous of? 😉 I’d love to hear about them!

thanks for reading our feed, please stop by the house for a visit sometime soon. 🙂

oh my goodness; as much as I am one of the easiest people on the planet to get along with, I would have been absolutely FURIOUS about the chairs being sold to someone else. Who does that?! Was she worried you wouldnt return for them(after paying her?) Ugh. Im upset for you. But you're keeping it in perspective too. Whats done is done. Now Im a little bitter for you:)xo,Sarah
