We have been trying to sell our van for the past week or so. We have it listed on a few websites (craigslist, cars.com, eBay classifieds, etc.), and most of the responses we receive are either lowball offers or spam. Doug got sick of all of the spam and decided to respond to one of the spammers.
It’s pretty funny, take a look:
We waited to see if we’d get a response, but of course we never heard from him. That should teach him to not mess with someone that works in the insurance industry! Nice work, Doug!
This one was from BMW of North America with a subject line "Shop BMW gifts on Cyber Monday." This email most certainly arrived after I expressed my preference to receive no more emails and recorded the attempt.
We are currently also trying to sell our van and have listed it on craigslist and gotten the same kind of results - low ball offers and spam. Good luck to you!
right?! Their technique can't possibly work... ahh. At least we can feel better knowing that they're wasting their OWN time too! 😉
I was trying to send you an email regarding an upcoming even in March, in what i think is close enough for you to attend. It's like a giant garage sale with lots of great affordable items, but your email icon wouldn't work. Here's the website!!! http://wheaton.patch.com/events/mothers-and-more-children-clothing-equipment-and-toy-resale
Cassie, you are so sweet! Thank you for thinking of me!!!
We actually used to live in Wheaton, it's not too far from where we are now. Plus, there's a great free zoo minutes from where that is taking place. We'll have to make a trip out of it! I miss the garage sales from that area, I'm excited!
And thanks for the tip on the email icon, I would have never known. 🙂
I DETEST SPAM!
Me dos. HA! both types of spam, actually! 😉
We had soo many spammers and no legit offers we eventually took it down. We found a local dealer who would buy it for a reasonable price that met our needs and we were done with it. We got a paypal scammer too! Good luck!
I think we're headed to a Carmax sometime this week. It's either spam or "will you practically pay me to take it off your hands"
Thanks for the luck, we'll need it 😉
