    Sunny Bedroom Update

    June 19, 2013 |

Our bedroom has always gotten the back burner decorating wise. Does that happen to you? The rest of the house has gotten updates and color love, but all our master bedroom has gotten was stuff shoved in it and laundry folded on the bed. And a super boring neutral palette.

Mohawk Flooring challenged me to give a room a colorful makeover for the summer, and I knew it was time this bedroom got some summer love!

    image

I added some mint, yellow, and turquoise accents to the already neutral room. I painted the table, an old family hand-me-down, and we made the tufted headboard. Come on in and make yourself at home!

I started with the rug, and picked out this "Enlightened Décor" rug in "Vintage Cream". The rug is a frieze and like Mohawk promised, EXTREMELY SOFT.

The perfect rug to step on first thing in the morning when rolling out of bed. They tell me that all of their Smartstrand rugs are this soft, and I'll tell you, I've never felt a rug this soft. If I wasn't very pregnant I'd be rolling around on it too. 😉

colorful and sunny bedroom makeover, with a rug giveaway!

And while most carpets have stain protection applied to the fibers that can wear off over time, the Smartstrand rugs have permanent stain and soil protection built right into the fibers. This rug will be just as stain resistant in 5 years as it will be now.

colorful and sunny bedroom makeover, with a rug giveaway!

In fact, we had a little oops just after adding it to the room. Ben (my three year old) walked in with his muddy shoes and ONTO MY BRAND NEW CARPET, ahhhhh!!!

But sure enough, just as Mohawk promised, a little bit of scrubbing with water, mild soap, and a rag it was GONE. You can't even tell the mud was there. 🙂

cleaning your rug is easy with Mohawk Smartstrand rugs

I have a few more details to add to the room and share with you, so stay tuned for that!

    But for now,

what room in your home could use a rug?

This post brought to you by Mohawk Flooring. All opinions and ideas are 100% my own.

With havin so much content and articles do
you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation?
My site has a lot of exclusive content I've either authored
myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the
internet without my agreement. Do you know any methods
to help prevent content from being stolen? I'd really appreciate it.

All of them! Our new house has all hardwoods/tile, and my husband refuses to let us take our old rugs with us because they're so gross.

hahaha! I wondered what my husband would say to the mint table, but he actually likes it. I'd say it's worth a shot 😉

I love it! It's beautiful and bright with such perfect balance. I love it when bright colors...are still calm and relaxing. Does that even make sense? Of course it does. 😉 Have a wonderful day! ~k.

thank you, Karen! Isn't it funny how teal was out a few years back and now we want to cover ourselves in it? I used to hate yellow too, but am a big fan now. Thanks for commenting, hope you are doing well too! Everything's good over here, I'm just big and pregnant and moving a little slow 😉

Looks like that would make a nice nursery rug too! Very cute bedroom - love the aqua!

        June 24, 2013 at 3:49 pm

it would be perfect for a nursery, especially with it being so stain resistant, haha. 🙂 thank you so much, Laura!

P.S. Your taco salad looks yummy!

Where did you get your white bedding? I love it!

      • Ann Marie Heasley

        June 24, 2013 at 3:50 pm

I know I told you on facebook, but just in case anyone else is wondering I'll reply here too. 😉 The white bedding is a duvet cover from IKEA, OFELIA VASS, and was $30 for a queen. We've had duvets before that slipped and slid and were annoying, this one stays put great. It is super comfy and easy to wash too.

We could REALLY use a rug in our bedroom. It's the only bedroom without carpet and we've never had a rug in there.

        June 24, 2013 at 3:52 pm

Good luck, Shandell!! The winners will be announced the first week of July. 🙂

        June 24, 2013 at 3:53 pm

thanks (again, haha), Lauren! I made it on the Vine app, tweeted out the post, clicked on the link in the tweet, clicked "embed", and it gave me some code to put in a post. It sounds a lot trickier than it actually was. 🙂
