Spring is here and all over Pinterest, blogs, and Facebook you're probably seeing lots of gorgeous spring and garden inspiration: bright colors, luscious florals, greenery, burlap, and lots of life!
But when I look outside my window, all I see is this: dead sticks, dead grass, and a whole lot of mud.
I wanted to make some "garden inspired" artwork that was a bit more realistic.
- blank canvas or art board
- a gross backyard
The process is pretty simple but it can get complicated if you don't pay close enough attention.
When you're done smearing the mud into the canvas, be sure to add some dead grass or leaves for dimension and texture. Bring your canvas inside, carefully set it down, and wash your hands.
Hang it up and you have a beautiful, earthy masterpiece that celebrates realism. Artwork that shows what spring really looks like at the beginning of April!
I think it would even be perfect gallery style, with help of kids, or in a bathroom hanging above the toilet!
Sure your husband, kids, or friends might think you're nuts, but don't let that get to you. Trend setters are often thought to be crazy and their ideas are unappreciated until after the fact!
Yes, I do have mud hanging on my wall right now. But I haven't gone crazy. 😉
Did I get you?
Ha ha ha ha ha! Good one! I kept thinking, "What? The mud would change color as it dries...and it would start flaking off...there's no binder in her medium!"
What trickster....if I had an award to give away for the best trick of the day, I would give it to you!
Haha! The funny thing is, if one of my kids did this- it'd be on the wall (at least for a little while). LOL

HA! You TOTALLY got me! I was thinking, "Umm.. okay, I'm not sure about this"
I have to say though... it was a good one!! I can totally see people doing this, people do weird things!!!
YOu got me, because I was like oh hell no, that will mold, after time....how .....what....if something is in there it will totally be alive in the house...Ann no, sorry not your best work....
THOSE are all the things that was going through my mind, but then I read the comments and was like, I hope this is a joke, because I do not want her hurt....
Love ya little girl,
Dude. I'm a poon and totally fell for this. The whole time, I was thinking wow, I just can't get on board with this one. I hate April fools.
dude, at least you're not the one that everyone thinks is crazy! Not sure if I'll be April Fools-ing next year... 😉
HA!! true true
My boys would be all over this! 🙂
ha! Mine would be too... guess I need to make more 😉
