    Garden Inspired Artwork

    April 1, 2013 |

Spring is here and all over Pinterest, blogs, and Facebook you're probably seeing lots of gorgeous spring and garden inspiration: bright colors, luscious florals, greenery, burlap, and lots of life!

But when I look outside my window, all I see is this: dead sticks, dead grass, and a whole lot of mud.

Finally! A "garden inspired" project that actually looks like a garden. How to make garden inspired artwork via @whbsblog

I wanted to make some "garden inspired" artwork that was a bit more realistic.

    Materials Needed:

    • blank canvas or art board
    • hands
    • a gross backyard

    Tutorial:

The process is pretty simple but it can get complicated if you don't pay close enough attention.

When you're done smearing the mud into the canvas, be sure to add some dead grass or leaves for dimension and texture. Bring your canvas inside, carefully set it down, and wash your hands.

Hang it up and you have a beautiful, earthy masterpiece that celebrates realism. Artwork that shows what spring really looks like at the beginning of April!

I think it would even be perfect gallery style, with help of kids, or in a bathroom hanging above the toilet!

Sure your husband, kids, or friends might think you're nuts, but don't let that get to you. Trend setters are often thought to be crazy and their ideas are unappreciated until after the fact!

    April Fools!

Yes, I do have mud hanging on my wall right now. But I haven't gone crazy. 😉

    Did I get you?

Ha ha ha ha ha! Good one! I kept thinking, "What? The mud would change color as it dries...and it would start flaking off...there's no binder in her medium!"

Haha! The funny thing is, if one of my kids did this- it'd be on the wall (at least for a little while). LOL
