A reader's recent question made me realize that I hadn't yet shared pictures of our bathroom space, nor our renovated bathroom from the old house (more on that another day)! I had just cleaned our master bathroom and took advantage of it to snap some pictures.
The space is amazing, you could probably fit two of our old bathroom in here! Our master bedroom is on the first floor, so this is also the bathroom used by everyone: kids, guests, us.
The style of the bathroom is what I'd like to call "perfectly fine". My style would probably be something more with a cottage, country, maybe a little industrial, light, bright look. Lots of white, wood tones, maybe some gray... you get where I'm going. This is all very peach, beige, almond, and the lights remind me of robots or UFOs.
But lately my style is "hey, we finally have two bathrooms so this is perfect." 🙂
But in looking at these pictures, I think to myself "hmm, it's not that bad"
Maybe one day we'll replace the almond sink top, toilet, and tub/shower and make it fancy. Maybe not. I originally thought this post would be me telling you what I'd like to change, but now that I think about it, I'll stop there.
I feel like any project started in here would sound like a scenario straight from If You Give A Mouse a Cookie.
If you give Ann Marie a paintbrush, she'll want to paint the cabinets. Once she paints the cabinets, she'll probably want to paint the trim while the primer is out...
...while she's painting the trim, she'll think "oh hey, let's just do the walls too."
After she paints the walls, she'll think that changing out the almond outlets isn't too hard of a job...
I can be happy with the peach and gray tile... but it would be nice to change it. Right, Doug? Doug? Why are you running away?
....
And before you know it we're replacing things and adding in a clawfoot tub, so I will tell myself to stop right there and just enjoy having a second bathroom.
We added in our towels and a little bit of wall art from the old house. The shower curtain was from them. Now that I think about that, maybe that's gross. But we did add a new shower liner.
That toilet paper holder is like the little knob on George Bailey's stairway that pops off every time he goes up the stairs. The toilet paper is constantly falling off and driving us nuts. I've been buying lighter toilet paper which seems to stay on for now. When I found a heavy duty wall mount holder at the ReStore recently for $2, I wanted to jump in the air and shout "YESSSSS!". Because I knew that my George Bailey days were almost over.
But I don't think I'll being kissing it any time soon. Because yuck, germs.
The window in here makes the room so much brighter. It's a nice change from having a no-window bathroom.
Bonus: I'm pretty sure our neighbors can't see in. Pretty sure.
Count those tiles. 25 sq feet. I think our last bathroom was around 35 sq ft 🙂
And that door to your right up there looks into our bedroom.
I wasn't sure how I'd feel about having a first floor master, but I really enjoy it.
The kids will come in here for naps, we can all linger a little bit longer in bed when everyone wakes up (and joins us), and I can lay down with the two younger ones while the older two play nearby.
It's definitely worth everyone barging in while I am in the bathroom.
So that's the bathroom. Would I like to change somethings? Sure. Will I? Not any time soon. 🙂
What would you do to change things?

Wow... Great bathroom tour. I loved to read ! thanks 🙂

If you give AnnMarie a paint brush made me laugh...your funny. I love your bathroom, and the set up, the only thing I need/want is longer mirrors, because I am short....the window, makes me nervous at night, I got stuck in there and made Dad come close the blinds, started using bathroom and realized blinds were open.
Ann Marie Heasley
Yes! We need longer mirrors. I'm short too and Doug's head gets chopped off because he's taller. 🙂 Ahhh! I try to close those at night, sorry you got stuck with it open. Maybe we'll frost it or get one of those kits or something!

Hah - we have the same issue with our toilet paper holder. Except it's our whole holder that comes off the wall. As well as the towel bar. My husband apparently has no issue with them, but they fall off the wall if I so much as look at them.

If you wanted to change it up a little, you could get fun drawer/cabinet pulls! Easy peasy and adds a little visual interest 🙂 Maybe some more wall art or wall textures?
It's a nice bathroom, though!

This is a perfectly lovely bathroom as is, but I would probably want to paint the cabinets and trim even though they don't really need to be painted. I just like white woodwork. I am one of those who is always imagining what I want to do to my space. You have a great space to work with should you ever decide to make changes. It is just my husband and me, but there are days I sure would love a bath of my own. I like your perspective about pointing out the great bath you have rather than detailing what you want. We rarely ever really need what we want, but it is fun to dream, isn't it!
