The day has come.
Last Saturday, we started ripping out our 30 year old, nasty carpet and tile to replace it with wood!
We went to Lumber Liquidators (who had decent prices, a great selection), local flooring places, Home Depot, Menard’s, but went with Lowe’s. They had what we were looking for, which was:
- cheap
Haha, okay kidding! While we’d love to go with bamboo, or something dark and wide, we wanted something similar to what is in the rest of the house. It turns out that antique gunstock oak at Lowe’s (your run of the mill, regular oak color) was the closest. And one of the cheapest. Win, win!
Here’s a tip, go to their site and sign up for their emails and you’ll get 10% off of your order! You can save even more if you decide to open up a Lowe’s card.
Since the wood was being delivered last weekend, we started ripping out the grossness.
ile we had the floor ripped up, we started work on the foyer area, which was tight, cramped, and just not working for us. I asked you for ideas and solutions, we designed a plan, and got to work! We needed something so that when you walked it, you weren’t cramped:
more on the foyer reconstruction tomorrow!
I’m so excited about the floors, we’ve been waiting for this day for two and a half years!

YAY!!!! You know what? I totally ADORE gunstock. I do. I've heard people call it "old school" or "classic", and I think all those things are compliments. LOVE. Yay and congrats!

It's funny, when we were at Lumber Liquidators, Doug asked what I would pick if money wasn't an option. I picked a wide, handscraped, more rustic and beat up gunstock. It's perfect! 🙂

Hooray for you! I'm excited to see how it turns out!

I'm excited for you! Looks like a big job, but I'm sure you'll be so happy with it once it's finished!
