Last year I forgot to take our Advent wreath out until after Christmas.
This year I discovered that a hot attic is not a good place to put candles that can melt.
On the third Sunday of Advent (raise your hand if you’re a slacker…), I decided I needed to do something in the way of an advent wreath. I took vases like these that I found at Goodwill and see there all the time
I painted them using acrylic paint and inserted some candles I had in the basement.
Granted, the finish isn’t perfect, and you can see my impatient fingerprints from where I touched the not quite dry paint, but we have an advent wreath! The branches were cut offs from when we bought our Christmas tree, Lowe’s had a large boxful and the guy helping us out told me to help myself to as many as I wanted. 🙂
We’re keeping it in our foyer area, because we really don’t go into our dining room that often unless we’re eating. I like having the wreath lit and enjoying it while we’re in the family room.
And yes, we have been known to eat dinner at this little tiny table – all four of us.
Happy fourth week of Advent! Can you BELIEVE Christmas is next Sunday?! Oh my gosh. I cannot believe it... this month has flown by!
hi-d
I miss having an advent wreath. Growing up we used to do this tradition all the time. I think I'm going to have to start it again with my family next year.
How cute that you eat at that little table.
