Thought it’d be a good idea to slap this pic up before we take it down for Christmas!
I challenged myself to make a mantle entirely out of stuff that was either from my yard or from my basement and not being used. This is how it started out for part of the summer.
I took some clippings from our planters, a few different backgrounds, and stacked some bulbs of garlic on the sides.
HA! It’s amazing how different lighting can make a spot look… my apologies for the dark night shots.
hydrangeas from the yard – I love the color they turned into, last year they were WHITE!
those same wheat-y type grasses from the summer, now muted in color and charred by the candle (oops), an acorn squash, candle and holder from my SIL that didn’t sell in our garage sale, and a picture frame I bought at a really OLD house having a garage sale.
The burlap backdrop is actually an old canvas covered in burlap. I keep it here not only because it looks nice…
but it makes a GREAT backdrop when taking shots of food! recipe here
Here’s shot at the other side of the room. Simple and full of hidden storage. 🙂 We moved the play kitchen/hutch back In here, I put a bunch of squashes up here that we’ll eat as time goes on, the green bucket on the left holds coloring books and paper, while the candle holder holds crayons.
The candle and base were another thing that didn’t sell in our garage sale, the ferny arrangement has been there since last Christmas, the hydrangeas were from the yard, and the statue of Mary is one that was blue and I spray painted Heirloom White.
You can see our full foyer transformation here, although I do have something I’ve changed and have been meaning to post about. You know me 😉
Now that I’ve posted my fall décor, I feel like I can start cleaning in preparation for Christmas.
Parents of a Dozen
I like all of your fall decor.

Your mantel and fall decor looks fabulous. I so need to get things going for Christmas. Like you, I am just not getting some fall done. Seems the days are moving way too fast. Hugs, marty
