Summer Front Door Makeover

June 7, 2012 |

Are you guys ready? It’s Summer Block Party time!

Hi everyone. I am super excited to kick of the Summer Block Party Series. Thanks to Ann for having me!!

Let me quickly introduce myself.

My name is Connie and I blog at Measured by the Heart. I write about DIY-home improvements, crafts, cooking, hair tutorials and book club. A little bit of everything. I love to meet new people and I hope you will stop by.

Ok enough of that...let's talk summer!!

My sweet girls go to year round school so they are still in class until mid July. {I know it's sad now, but having 3 weeks off in Sept. and and Jan. is so nice!!} Since I can't really plan a ton of fun summer outings with my girls, I decided to give our house a summer makeover. Starting with our front door. I wanted to brighten it up and let summer greet you first thing when you come over.

Here is a before:

Not bad right, but not great either. Definitely not bright and summery. So I decided to pick a yummy yellow. It took three coats but that isn't bad when you are working on a small surface.

That's definitely better, but I really didn't love the black molding. I decided it needed to go white and I think it MADE the door.

Isn't it funny how that white molding makes all the difference. I LOVE it. Want to see a side by side?

I completely love it!! It's such a fun way to freshen up your home for summer.

I'd love to have you stop by Measured by the Heart. You can also connect with me on social media:

Lately I’ve been loving yellow, and it just makes that door pop! I love the before and after! Thanks, Connie for hosting today and kicking off the series! She has so many great ideas, you’ll love her blog.

So pretty! What is the name of the color? I am planning on painting my front door yellow, but can't decide on a color!

I love your yellow door Connie! And the white trim! We just went from a neat blue shade to black, as my husband wanted the door color to match the black shutters. 🙁 I long for a different color... Great way to kick off Ann Marie's Summer Block Party!

Love it. Such a cheerful color and really brightens up the entrance. Hugs, Marty
