This morning I got all of the kids’ Christmas clothes together. Out of the laundry pile, out of bags, out of their closets, finding matching socks, finding their shoes… you know the drill.
I made Ben a bow tie and Lily a hair bow.
I was planning on taking some decent pictures of them together so I could go ahead and order my Christmas cards. But by the time it was all together and the kids were dressed, the backdrop was on the floor, Lily tore apart her hairbow, and major freakouts and chaos ensued.
we almost have a smile from Ben!
Lily, what are you doing…
I’ll try again after naps.
Honestly, these pictures kinda describe how I’ve been feeling about this whole season so far this year. With Christmas decorations, I had all of these big ideas and plans as far as what I was going to do this year and blog posts and yada yada. Of course none of it happened. I didn’t link up to ANY parties.
I just finished decorating our tree earlier this week!
And then all the “balls” get stolen and thrown all over the family room. Lovely.
I wanted to make a ton of our presents and bought the supplies. Now it’s a week till Christmas Eve and I am no where near done. I have these big ideas and wanted to save money, but like most of my craft (or taking a line from Mandi and Mandi, crap) projects, I end up spending only slightly less than what I would have had I just BOUGHT the darn thing. I’d be done! :-/
Oh well… what are you going to do. I can’t get down about it. We’ve got snow, a warm house, our health, a loving family. I have laundry needing to by folded but my kids are clean, well-fed, and have diapers. And they’re happy. 🙂
I don’t have hand crafted wreaths and mistletoe, I totally forgot to put out the Advent wreath, my Christmas cards are most likely NOT going to be out BEFORE Christmas, and I’m going to be up late every night for the next week making presents.
We’ve got the important things, and that’s all that matters…
I love you guys! Thanks for listening. 🙂

Clearly this post is old, but I was browsing your blog and came across it. It cracks me up because I seriously just had this moment. This is my first Christmas with two kids and getting them both to behave and look at the camera was challenging. My husband had to remind me to calm down. LOL! Our pictures look just like that. Thank god we got one good one.

OMG the sweater vest and bow tie on your son are soooo cute...I was to distracted looking at his cute outfit at first to see that things didn't go as planned. I see you ended up with some great shots in a different post!Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Priceless and Precious! In the words of Trace Adkins "You're gonna miss thisYou're gonna want this backYou're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fastThese are some good timesSo take a good look aroundYou may not know it nowBut you're gonna miss this"

Oh my goodness! This is my problem exactly! I have been staying up until 2 am and still don't seem to be making much headway! But it is so rewarding to at least focus on each little project that does get done :o)

I know that it doesn't seem funny at the moment but I'm pretty sure you will cherish those pics someday. Its the candid ones like that that really tell the story. The kiddos are soo adorable and I couldn't stop laughing. Poor Ben, he's going to have his hands full growing up 🙂

These bloopers are so funny! Don't worry about everything being perfect, nobody really cares anyway. They will still love your cards after Christmas!

I feel ya sister! I may be putting up lights today. TODAY! I just noticed it's minutes until Christmas and we just put up a tree last night. No cards yet. Gifts are wrapped though. I had the same thoughts you did: my family is healthy and happy and we have a warm house, food and so much more that happens all year long...not just at Christmas. You kiddos are adorable and I agree with the other commenter that said you should make those pics a collage on a card...good memories for later!

Your kids are adorable!! Don't get down on your self! I had big plans for hand made gifts and I have made one so far and the others are not going to get made - so oh well! I guess I will have to start earlier next year! Cute bowtie you made - nice job!Sarah at Classroom Chic

Girl, give yourself a credit. You have two little bitty kids. That alone is accomplishment enough. 😉 It is rough to be a mom of little ones and see all the neat projects going on that you just don't have time to work on. Just enjoy what you can get done and don't worry about the rest! 🙂

I think you should do a collage of all the pics that lead up to the "perfect" pics.....that actually made me laugh...Lily pushing Ben over...welcome to reality.......OF course I am biased...

Oh how I do remember all those days when the children were small and I always tried to do more than was humanly possible. You are right, you have a fabulous family and good health, so nothing else really matters. God Bless and try to relax. Hugs, Marty
