    Three Rooms Clean

    November 19, 2009 |

I know I promised an "Update Part II," but all that would consist of would be photos of our rooms with furniture and decorated. I'm sure it's probably a huge surprise to you (sarcasm), but our house still needs some a lot of unpacking and work. Honestly, I'd be embarrassed to show you the clutter, boxes, and mess that still is hanging around! It's definitely a process and we're working through it little by little.

Even though you wouldn't guess it by the look of my house, having a messy, cluttered room bugs me. (My mom probably wouldn't believe that statement given what my room looked like throughout my years there...) I like having our bedrooms first and foremost clean. I know this is probably opposite of what most people do, after all, you probably spend the least hours in there awake and guests don't hang out there. But I feel like having a clean room allows me to better relax and fall asleep. Plus I don't bump into stuff in our rooms while getting Lily for her night feeding(s), lol.

Enough talking, here are the goods, these rooms are still a work in progress!

This is our bedroom, still some boxes, but for the most part it's set. Since our closets are small, I use the closet in our room, while Doug uses the front hall closet. Eventually, we plan on reworking the closests with two bars for hanging and also putting some shelving up above.

Here is Lily's room, probably the cutest and most put together/unpacked room of the house. There are so many things about this room that I like. The way the bedding looks in the room, the built-in bookshelf. Her crib was mine when I was younger, her dresser is an antique my mom purchased, and the sturdy wooden toy chest and rocking chair are garage sale finds (both $15 each). I like having both an exersaucer and jumperoo, I keep the exersaucer in here while the jumperoo is in our family room. It's nice having one on opposite ends of the house so that I don't have to move it around.
Our bathroom - well, it needs work. The previous owner was in the process of remodeling the bathroom before deciding to sell the house and has started our project for us. If you look at the walls, it looks as if there was once tile that was stripped off. While talking with the owner, we learned that the plaster walls were stamped to make them look as if they were tile. He stripped the paint and sanded the walls and that's how they are now. We'll need to sand the walls a bit and then mud over the walls, then paint. Since it's just a bathroom, we figured this would be a good project while living here and held off.
We're planning on painting the vanity and side medicine cabinet white, while the paint sample in the last picture on the right (stick above the cabinet) is the color we'll be painting the room. I'd like to paint the fixtures ORB to match the rest of the house. We have a mirror/medicine cabinet to replace the old one and I'd like to do SOMETHING different about the lighting, but there's a dilemma there. They've cut into the Corian surround for the light on the right. *GASP* I know, right? What were they thinking?? But oh well, we'll figure something out. The bulbs are too close to the wall to put a lamp shade on them and migraine inducing.
There you have it, the three rooms in my house that are decently clean. I'm going to get to work today and hopefully I'll have more pictures to share tomorrow!

Thanks, Nicole!! It's nice to have to stack her books and goodies on. I've had some good luck with finding shelves at garage sales and thrift shops and painting them. You should post some pics of Riley's room/space! :)An award!? Well thank you!! 😀 I grabbed your button and posted it!

Thanks Bonnie! It's my favorite too. I keep forgetting that no one has really seen our house yet!
