I used to keep a lot more toys in here, but in sorting out and cleaning up, our family room is a bit more streamlined.
On a typical day, not counting a splash party on the coffee table or a laundry explosion on the couch, this room takes me all of 5 minutes to straighten up. I like keeping it easy enough so that if Lily’s awake, she’ll help me clean up. 🙂
Bins of toys (Mr. Potato Head in this case) go in the hallway closet, the rest of the toys live in a large basket in here. The books go on the bookshelf (Pottery Barn, $10 from a garage sale).
Blankets get folded and stacked (top quilt handmade by Cecily).
Random forks, pjs, and other things are put where they belong and my friend, Dyson steps in to scare the crap out of Ben vacuum.
Pillows fluffed and placed just so (for now at least…)
Curtains are opened, the entertainment center is closed, tables are wiped and moved in the right spot
And the kids wonder where Elmo went, so I make a compromise
I can guarantee you that not every room in my house cleans up this fast! Since we practically live in this room, I love having it simplified and easy to clean.
Do you have a room in your house that you like to keep simple, easy to straighten up?

once again, I LOVE your blog about cleaning and seeing photos of messy rooms being cleaned up easily! Looking around at my living room I think it would only take me 5 min also to get it back to company ready. My kids have a play room and yet their things come and visit me in what ever room I happen to be sitting in.

Come do mine? Seriously-- I am lacking SOO much motivation in the cleaning department. BOOO.
