Easy, Iced Coffee That Isn’t $3

    May 10, 2011 |

This was supposed to go out tomorrow. OOPS! Ever hit publish instead of schedule? Le sigh, oh well 😉

Any time I make a pot of coffee, I usually only drink one cup hot. I save the rest of the pot and use it the next two to three days to make iced coffee!

Fill a large cup about 8 oz (1 cup of coffee) full, then add milk. I like using Almond Milk, it goes well with the coffee.

Add a bit of organic maple syrup, honey, or simple syrup.

Stir well until mixed, add ice and a straw!

Unlike sugar, the sweeteners I listed will dissolve better in the cold liquid, so you don’t get the sugar chunks on the bottom.

For an even more natural alternative, I highly recommend using Stevia, but I have yet to teach myself to become a fan of the taste.

Looking for a healthy protein kick? Skip the sweet stuff and add a scoop or two of Cinch! You can see how I used the Cinch to loose my baby weight here. 🙂

Sip and enjoy your tasty drink that you made at home!

And it didn’t involve packing the kids in the car, and going through the guilt trip that is spending $3 for coffee with ice in it… I know I’ve been there. 😉

thanks for reading our feed, please stop by the house for a visit sometime soon. 🙂

Elizabeth - I just started seeing commercials for the .99 promotion! Woohoo! Usually our DD and Starbucks sell them for 2 and some change, I make mine big at home, so I'd be spending closer to 3 for that size there. :)Glad you guys enjoyed the post!

Great reminder that the good stuff can be made at home for cheap-cheap. Never thought of using my vanilla flavored stevia. Thank you.

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=17576976I bought two of the above cups at bed bath and beyond. I LOVE homemade iced coffee. I used coupons for the cups. I just brew pots and stick them right in the fridge. Then I add ice and sugar free vanilla liquid creamer! 🙂 I am going to totally try the Cinch in my coffee! I am all for some protein shake for more Mommy energy!! 🙂

I love making my own iced coffee! I call it 'homemade frappuccino', because I add vanilla or chocolate syrup along with the milk, or sometimes a flavored creamer. I haven't bought coffee to make at home in a while, this makes me want to...But where do you get a $3 iced coffee? The most I've paid is maybe $1.50, they're all .99 at Dunkin right now! A blended ice drink like frappuccino, that can be $3, and worth it to my mind =)
