    What’s in My Fridge?

    June 30, 2011 |

    image

I showed you my cabinets but I don’t think I’ve ever showed the inside of my fridge. (and now you’re thinking “umm, okay. why would I care?”)

But! Caroline at The Feminist Housewife asked all of us, and I could always use a good excuse to clean my fridge, so here it is!

    image image

    Top shelf: things I’m defrosting

2nd shelf: dairy, dips, and eggs

    image
I love buying eggs from my local guy, but this time convenience won out and I bought our usual 4 dozen at Trader Joes.

    image

The bottom shelf is usually where our leftovers, beer, and other beverages hang out. The beer is from Two Brothers, a local brewery, my sister’s leftover Cafe Americano is in there, and although we rarely drink pop, I do have some 7-UP Retro in there.

I think we have 6 cans left and I bought this 12 pack a month or two ago, lol.

    image
I bought the basket at a garage sale for .50 and use it as my bread drawer. Mini pitas (kids will eat anything in one of these things), sprouted grain bread, english muffins, biscuits, and bagels. We don’t eat a ton of bread, but I like having an assortment. 🙂

    image

Our drawer holds cheese, tortillas, and meats. I love the Raw Milk Cheddar from Trader Joe’s!

    image

Our veggie and fruit drawers are looking sparse, but I think you’ll see why once we head to the freezer. That’s Lily sneaking her string cheese into the shot.

    image

Weirdest item in my fridge? Homemade deodorant! I mix coconut oil, arrowroot powder (cornstarch works too), and baking soda together to form a thick paste. We usually keep it in a dish in the bathroom, scoop up a bit, and apply with our hands, but I keep the extras in here.

Started using it about a month ago and I love it! My pits have never smelt and felt so good 😉

    image

Chocolate/butter/cream cheese on the left, yogurt and extra butter on the right. We use a LOT of REAL butter in this house, none of that fake stuff 😉

    image image

Whole Milk and pineapple juice, condiments, my phone

    imageimage

Can you tell we shop at Trader Joe’s? Love that place…

    image

This is the mad stampede that happens every time I open the fridge
    image

You would think I never fed these kids the way they get excited about an open fridge

    image

both kids go nuts over the Kyolic Liquid Garlic, Lily calls it her “treat” and FREAKS.OUT. if she sees it and I don’t give her some. It helps boost their immunity so as gross as I think drinking liquid garlic is, I’m not going to say no!

    image

    Onto the freezer!

This is why my produce drawers are sad looking. We eat lots of fruits and veggies, but I keep most of them in the freezer so that they have a longer shelf life.

imageimageimageimageWe also keep a basket of fruit on top of the fridge

    image

and some are chillin on the counter with the potatoes and onions

please come and fix my fridge. I have all kinds of no room in mine, but never can find anything to eat. I have a soda addiction...so ya know...soda takes up the most space in my fridge 😉 How much do your local eggs cost? I went to the City Market today for the first time and wanted to buy fresh eggs and they were nearly $4.00 a dozen, I just can't afford that in my budget. I can get free range fresh eggs at my grocery store for $2.50 a dozen. Just curious. Also, We are getting a Trader Joe's in Kansas City on the 15th, but it's no where near my house. I'm wanting to make a trip there to see how price compares to our other local stores! I hear good things, but I need to see it! (Guess I'm a missouri girl!)

Thank you so so much for linking up! I loved checking out your fridge. Love TJs! I will have to try the raw milk cheddar when I go today...

Haha! We totes have the same fridge. Not the contents, but the actual fridge! Right now I don't have anything unsual in my fridge, but growing up we used to keep the tape in there...Don't ask!
