I've wanted to jump on the chalkboard wall trend bandwagon. Really, I did. But the thought of chalk dust and kids drawing on my other walls scared me almost as much as nails on a chalkboard.
So I found a way to get around that. Paint a wall in the garage!
We have one drywalled wall in the garage so I washed it down and did what any not normal person would do: start painting it at 5pm.
Of course I ran out of chalkboard paint (of course), but I really like it. We only have a gravel driveway so this will give the kids a fun spot to draw. I like that I can use it for a photo backdrop or use it to help sell items I'm clearing out.
Looks a lot better than a garage full of crap behind it! 😉
If you don't have a wall in the garage to do this, I'm told by friends on our Facebook page that chalk markers are a good solution to the dust issue.
So what do you think?
Are you a fan of the chalkboard wall?

What a great idea. I love it. If only I had a blank wall in my garage to do that to. 🙂

I love the idea of having a chalkboard wall in the garage. Using it as a background for items you are selling is genius!

What a great idea, how did I NOT think of this?!? I've wanted a chalkboard wall for a long time now, but I was always afraid to "ruin" a wall in the house. The garage is PERFECT!

My husband has forbidden me to make any chalkboard paint projects. He's a teacher and he hates dealing with chalk dust at work and REALLY doesn't want to deal with even more dust once he gets home. But this sounds like the perfect solution:)

I love it! It is perfect. What a great idea. We have a mini garage packed full of junk that isn't attached to our house, but if I ever get an attached garage I'm doing this! We have chalkboard paint on the kid's doors and a few other places. I just really love the look of that matte black and the teacher in me is drawn to it ;).

yes, I love the matte look! Maybe it is the teacher in me, haha because I'm also attracted to a matte old green color. 🙂 Thanks, Megan!
