    My Screws are Loose

    August 16, 2011 |

    cleaning out my junk drawer…

    IMG_2348

What do you do when you find random screws and nails? I feel like I find them all over my house, in this drawer, in that drawer, in the desk, on the floor, in the entertainment center…

Do you save them and keep them organized?

    Do you toss them?

Or do you throw them in the junk drawer and let them multiply like me? Help!

thanks for reading our feed, please stop by the house for a visit sometime soon. 🙂

I have a wooden box with a divider in it that is in a drawer in my kitchen one side is for screws and one side for nails. I put any odd nails and screws in this box. I have used them untold times. It sure beats running to the hardware store every time I need a screw or nail. But if you are not one to fix things yourself you may not need this. I like to fix things myself so I use them up.

Great ideas, thanks everyone! I like the idea of a clear container, I'm sure I have one around here. 🙂

We keep them in a baby food jar.

My tool box has one of those tops with a bunch of compartments with a clear lid. All random hardware goes in there, including parts leftover from ready-to-assemble furniture, wall anchors, etc. I reuse quite a bit of them! Once in a while I have to buy a special size, but usually I just use what I have.Just put them all in one central location and you'll be fine! No need to organize them by size or anything.

I keep them in a small 1 gallon trash can in the shed. I know I should throw them away because I'll probably never use them, but I always think "WHAT IF I NEED IT!?" and end up keeping them.

Unless I know for certain they go to something, then I throw them away. When we moved into this house there were screws and nails all over the yard. Two years later I still find them outside here and there! My husband also works with screws and he brings them home and puts them on the counter and also leaves them in his pockets. I can't stand little clutter messes. I quit the junk drawer a long time ago!

I keep most of them. I like to reuse them if I can. I normally put them in a baby food jar or old spaghetti sauce jar to keep it all together.
