Putting in a Sliding Glass Door

    February 21, 2011 |

I feel like I’m always looking at pictures, wanting to post them, but thinking oh, I’ll wait until ______________ happens (fill in your blank) until I make a post.

Whether it’s putting in a new floor, hanging the curtains, painting the trim (ahem, raises hand… you still haven’t seen my dining room table for that reason), I’m sooo guilty of it. I found these old pictures and wanted to post and then thought oh, I’ll wait until we get lights and get them hung before I post those.

I’m not waiting, because once I get the lights in I’ll forget, and then I’ll remember when we’re working on the steps and won’t want to post because the patio isn’t in yet… I know myself… 😉

So once upon a time we had a white house and didn’t have a sliding glass door.

    imagethere’s my dad 🙂

We found a sliding glass door at a factory sale for somewhere around $150-180? I can’t remember… I do remember that this day being rainy, not sunny like in the picture, hmmm

The window was removed and a tarp put in place

and we had a hole in our house. Hi, Doug!

    The wall was cut into

and some framing put up where the new wall would be.

Don’t ask me how, I just took the pictures. Sorry if you came here for a real tutorial, hahaha! Maybe you can figure it out..

The dads and a Doug put things into place

And there you have it, a sliding glass door in a day!

We later had new siding installed, here is what it looks like now:

    image so you ready?!

woo hoo! it looks so odd without the door…

Still need to add lights, I’m thinking of those barn style type lights. We’ll be adding in steps hopefully this summer, as well as a brick patio.. Oh and that spot of grass needs to be patched and maybe we’ll get some landscaping in. And while we’re at it, move that over grown tree. OH, and I’d love to paint the concrete foundation thingy and...

Yep, there I go again. Do you do this too? I seriously have a problem with it.

thanks for reading our feed, please stop by the house for a visit sometime soon. 🙂

It looks wonderful and can imagine it added a ton of light to the room. Mostly I want to say thank you 🙂 We bought an older home and I feel like we finish one project to only have to add 20 more to the list! It is nice to know I am not alone!!
