    Quick Update!

    October 19, 2009 |

We're getting closer to the big day - Moving Day - this Saturday! Ahh!

It's been a week since I've posted and we've been busy! Here's a recap of the last week.

1.) Lily and I were sick. She's better, I'm just about there.

2.)We painted the cabinets white! It's a long process, but something anyone can do for a quick update! I'll describe it all in an upcoming post. I'd rather wait to show you pictures of the finished result than the semi-finished result! They're all painted, the next step is to attach the cabinets to the hinges and attach the doors to the cabinets (hopefully what I'll be doing today).

3.) Doug cut down the old cabinets (near the oven) so they'll be flush with other cabinets. It's tricky to explain, again, photos when they're hung!

4.) I trimmed some trees, lol.

    ...and the biggest change:

5.) Taking out three windows in the family room and replacing them with... A SLIDING PATIO DOOR! Before this, we had a front door (not really used) and a side door (mostly used),  but no back door. Now we do! Next spring, we'll make some steps and will be laying down bricks for a paved patio. The view out the door is great! Although we have a hole where part of the window once was, we are in the process of getting new siding which will solve the issue. Before and after:

This was one of the projects that I thought was a "maybe someday it would be nice to have a back patio door" and it actually happened! When we realized we'd be getting new siding, then we thought now would be a better time than ever to do the project. And the best part? My cousin, told us about a window/door warehouse sale and we got the door for a steal - $100. When looking the brand and type of door up online, it normally sells for $800-$1000! Woo hoo! More pictures to come.
