(yes they’re that orange, no I did not enhance anything)
Imagine my surprise when the mailman handed me a box marked “perishable” the other day. Whaaat? Who loves me enough to send perishables?!
Inside, I found 11 homegrown oranges nestled among shredded newspaper. I shrieked with excitement and knew even before reading the card. A good friend who lives across the country has citrus trees, and I’ve often drooled just at her mention of them.
They’re seriously the best oranges I’ve had, the only ones that I’ve tasted that didn’t come from a store. A beautiful reminder of weather that is warm, irresistible summer produce, and fruit just dripping with sweetness.
Sarah, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your sweet gift brought tears to my eyes and has filled me with hope that summer isn’t far away. I wanted to have a big garden this year, but your oranges have really motivated me to actually do it. My garden is frozen and snowed over at the moment, but ohhh, I can’t wait to send you some goodies from my garden. 😉

Those oranges look delicious, as does the precious church outside your window. What a beautiful scene!Carolantiquetexan.blogspot.com

Dude, I love oranges. I need a winter boost, myself. How about a cruise? Together?
