The Day that I Threw Drywall Out the Window.

    September 14, 2011 |

We have an awesome upstairs that you can reach by a set of stairs (behind a door). Some day when the place is clean I’ll post more pics, but it really is my favorite space in the house. Even unfinished.

Eventually we’ll put a master bedroom, bathroom, and office/play area/sitting area/closet up here. There’s about 30 feet by 12 feet of living space up here just waiting to be tapped into.

The picture below is how this area looked when I posted about it on April 1st.

It’s also how it looked on the morning of September 12th, lol. See that drywall on the far right? Gross, warped, buggy. Tons of boxes from moving over there too.

There’s no way I’m dragging that crap through my house!!!

Soooo… September 12th, 2011 will be marked as the day that put my double hung windows to use

    and threw that crap

    out the window. 🙂

You should be impressed, that drywall was nasty and heavy!

Here’s what the space looks like now, sorry for the night/flash pictures.

There’s a TON more room under there than I thought! Enough to fit a bed or something!

And well hello! Look what greeted me on the front page of Anthropologie’s Bedding page:

Totally excited for the day when we’ll eventually finish the upstairs. Until then? I’ve got ¾ left of the attic to clean out.

    Wish me luck!

No, you cannot see pictures. It’d look like a screen shot of an episode of Hoarders and I’d probably lose about 30 followers. 😉

thanks for reading our feed, please stop by the house for a visit sometime soon. 🙂

So far it is looking good! How cool to have all that space to work with!My daughter's room looked like an episode of hoarders. It took me four days to clean it and sort everything. I found two full loads of laundry in her room! Now that it's clean she has to keep it that way! We did get to throw something out her window. But it wasn't drywall. lol. She likes rocks, so most of them were toseed out her window and back into the yard where they came from. 😉

That's a huge space! We also have a similar second story, our stairs are behind a door, etc. Ours was finished when we moved in, but there's something nice about being able to plan the space yourself. Good luck with the cleaning!

Made me laugh, thanks. Bet it was very satisfying to pitch the nasty stuff out the window, eh?
